Sources: Rangers in advanced talks to sign Bayern Munich sensation Malik Tillman

Rangers are in advanced talks to sign Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Malik Tillman, sources have told Football Insider.

The Glasgow giants are confident of making the 20-year-old their fifth summer signing as club chiefs step up their recruitment drive.

Rangers have been working on a potential permanent or loan deal for Tillman and both options are still on the cards, although a temporary move is now more likely.

Negotiations will continue on Friday as Rangers look to reach a full agreement.

The Glasgow giants have already completed four summer transfers, with deals agreed for defender John Souttar, winger Rabbi Matondo and forwards Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence.

This site also revealed on Friday (15 July) that the Ibrox club are trailing Derby County in the race to sign Northampton left-back Ali Koiki.

Tillman, who is under contract in Bavaria until 2024, was born in Germany and has been on the books at Bayern since the age of 13.

But he is eligible for the USA national and made his debut in a 3-0 friendly win over Morocco in May.

He has played seven times in total for Bayern at senior level, scoring once in a 12-0 DFB-Pokal demolition of fifth-tier Bremer SV in August last year.

The versatile youngster is comfortable through the middle in midfield, out wide or in a variety of attacking roles.

He is close to joining a Rangers side that won the Scottish Cup and finished runner-up in both the Scottish Premiership and Europa League in 2021-22.
