Rangers make decision on accepting Cyriel Dessers offer – sources

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers could be sacrificed this month amid interest from Serie A side Cagliari, sources have told Football Insider.

The 30-year-old Belgian striker is wanted in Italy, where he was previously a success with Cremonense.

Dessers has frustrated Rangers fans with his performances since heading to Ibrox in 2023 and sources say there is a “real possibility” he is sold before the 3 February deadline.

Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane, 22, is now the first-choice striker for Philippe Clement after his arrival in the summer window.

That could leave Dessers free to complete a return to Italy this month after he slipped down the pecking order at Ibrox.

He has made 31 appearances across all competitions this term – but has started just once since the start of December.

The 30-year-old has hit 12 goals this term and has added four assists to that tally.

Meanwhile, Igamane has scored 12 goals in 24 outings and has added three assists.

Clement leaving Rangers ‘is a real possibility’ this month

Dessers has hit 34 Rangers goals in total and is under contract at Ibrox until May 2027.

The Glasgow giants also have Brazillian forward Danilo on the books, who has hit seven goals and contributed three assists in 17 games this term.

Clement’s side are 15 points adrift of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership despite beating their Old Firm rivals 3-0 earlier this month (2 January).

The Gers face Man United and Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League this month and are well placed to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.
