Rangers make Emmanuel Fernandez transfer plan amid ‘huge Premier League offer’

Rangers are desperate to keep Emmanuel Fernandez at Ibrox this summer despite growing interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League.

Arsenal are among the clubs being linked with a move for the 24-year-old after what has been an impressive debut season in the Scottish Premiership.

He has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season and has thrived under Danny Rohl, with the club now determined to deter interest in him.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Rangers have no plans to entertain talk about Fernandez‘s departure this summer.

They see him as a crucial part of their squad for the immediate future with a huge potential sell-on value of he continues to make good progress at Ibrox.

Rangers plan to deter interest in Emmanuel Fernandez

Fernandez has earned high praise for his performances at Rangers this season, making him a crucial part of their plans as they continue to challenge for the title.

Rohl is getting the best out of the centre-back and hopes to see him continue his development alongside John Souttar, with whom he has built a strong partnership.

Souttar penned a new contract at Rangers this week to extend his stay until 2027, and Rangers will hope they can keep hold of his defensive partner too.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah, he’s been a success story for Rangers, Fernandez, since his arrival from Peterborough last summer.

“Obviously, Rangers beat a few clubs to land the centre-back. He’s really kicked on under Danny Rohl and has become a key man for Rangers.

“He has a good centre-back partnership going with John Souttar right now as well. He’s a good player, comfortable on the ball as a centre-back.

“It’s no surprise maybe that other clubs are looking at him but look Rangers will be desperate to keep hold of Fernandez.

“I don’t think Rangers have any plans to let him go any time soon. They see him as a real top prospect and would be a huge sellable asset in the future.

“It would take a huge offer I think from the Premier League to even consider Rangers to let Fernandes go.

“He’s just enjoying his debut season at the club and they want to keep him there for the foreseeable future.”

Premier League clubs plot moves to sign Djeidi Gassama

Fernandez is not the only Rangers player who has attracted interest thanks to his outstanding performances in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Premier League clubs want to sign Djeidi Gassama and are keeping tabs on his progress.

If Gassama can continue with his recent run of form, there is a growing feeling Rangers could be set to receive formal offers for him when the summer window opens.

Football Insider revealed in January that Rangers turned down Monaco’s offer for Gassama which would have been an initial loan with a £10million obligation to buy.

However, any summer move would likely see the money offered up front, which could test the Ibrox club’s resolve although they remain hopeful of keeping him.
