Rangers may have found perfect Alfredo Morelos replacement – ‘it’s all I’m hearing’, says Glasgow expert

Frank McAvennie has claimed Robbie Ure could replace Alfredo Morelos at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Michael Beale has “nothing to lose” by giving Ure game time in the first team.

The 18-year-old has made two appearances for the senior side this season.

He made his debut in the League Cup match against Queen of the South back in August where he scored the opening goal in the 3-1 win.

Beale has favoured Alfredo Morelos and Fashion Sakala and the pair started the 2-2 draw with Celtic on Monday (2 January).

Summer signing Antonio Colak is yet to feature under the new manager after suffering a calf strain just before the restart.

Although Beale suggested the Croatian would be fit for the derby match on Monday, he was an unused substitute in the game.

The new boss has already made use of young players Adam Devine and Alex Lowry in his starting XI.

McAvennie suggested it could be time for Ure to get a run in the first team.

“I heard people talking about how Ure is pretty good, why not bring him in,” he told Football Insider.

I do not get why other managers do not do it. I know they are under pressure and all that but he is under pressure with the fact that he is struggling for strikers.

All I have heard about is this boy up front for Rangers, so I would play him. It is a baptism of fire.

Rangers

You have got to be a certain kind of person to play for Celtic or Rangers. You are a different breed from everyone else, especially if you like it.

If Beale puts him in, who knows what he could do. If he is doing well for the youth team then put him in. He has got nothing to lose. It would be better putting him in than somebody in midfield up front.
