Rangers will sell Kamara as 2000% price-tag jump revealed - Pundit

Rangers will sell anyone at the right price and Glen Kamara’s astonishing 2000 per cent increase in value would represent a “terrific” transfer fee.

That is according to ex-Celtic star Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed that Rangers won’t consider bids of less than £10million for the midfielder after his plaudit-pulling performances in Europe this season.

Rangers signed the 25-year-old Finland international for £50,000 in January 2019, a fee which Ibrox winger Scott Arfield later hyped as the “biggest steal of the century.

The dextrous midfielder has played 40 times this season, including all eight matches in the Europa League as Rangers have progressed to the last-16.

Whelan raved over Kamara’s original minuscule fee but insisted that Rangers will have a price in mind for every one of their players with a view to a future sale.

He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “It’s been a terrific deal, hasn’t it?

“Unfortunately, the same as every club, as Brucey [Forsyth] use to say, if the price is right, they’ll take it, he’ll be off.

“Rangers will have a price on everyone. If the buying club matches that, he’ll be gone. It’s the same at Celtic.

“It’s the way of Scottish football. It’s the way with most clubs in Europe except for maybe the big half-dozen in England. That’s about it.”

Kamara has featured 27 times in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, helping Rangers to a first title in a decade.

He is likely to feature prominently in the remainder of the Europa League campaign as Steven Gerrard’s side hope to progress past Slavia Prague in the last-16.

In other news, Celtic have offered a pre-contract to Rangers transfer target Kyle Joseph.
