Rangers fans have been pleading with the Gers to sign Swansea City striker Oli McBurnie in the summer – but the Scotland international isn’t good enough yet to merit a move to Ibrox.
McBurnie has become a big favourite with Gers fans after talking about his support of the Light Blues regularly on social media but that shouldn’t be enough to warrant signing for the Ibrox giants.
The striker has shown a lot of promise but has played very little first-team football in his career so far, and his inexperience was there for all to see as he made his Scotland debut in Friday’s 1-0 defeat by Costa Rica.
The English-born striker has impressed while on-loan at Barnsley but if that is the bar to earn a move to Ibrox then standards have seriously slipped and catching Celtic is further away than it has ever been.
McBurnie has every chance to go on and make his name as a top striker but until he shows more – and does so over a much longer spell than a few months – then the Gers needs to look at alternative targets.
While it’s great to see players at other clubs showing their support for the Light Blues, there needs to be to who Rangers look to sign beyond them saying something nice on Twitter.
In other Rangers news, the club must blow Celtic out of the water to sign the next Moussa Dembele.
