Rangers 24-yr-old must show up for big matches or be flogged in summer

Rangers fans were left disappointed as Josh Windass failed to have an impact on a big game for the Gers – despite scoring the opening goal after only three minutes.

The 24-year-old never offered anywhere near enough for Graeme Murty’s side as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat and arguably did a worse job in the role than Niko Kranjcar did in the 0-0 draw at Celtic Park in December.

Windass’ goals have been a big part in firing the Gers to second in the Scottish Premiership but too often at Ibrox the former Accrington star vanishes after making a brief early contribution.

With reported interest from a number of Championship clubs in January, Rangers need to get Windass performing consistently or flog him and find a replacement in the summer or they’ll struggle to take that next step and win a title.

The former Accrington star has the ability to be head and shoulders above 95% of players in the Scottish Premiership but needs to do it on a weekly basis.

With 17 goals to his name this season, Windass has shown how good he can be but he simply doesn’t do it when it really matters and it leaves the Gers effectively a man down and with a huge gap to fill.

Windass himself is happy to talk the talk on social media but it is time for him to walk the walk.
