Rangers new manager: ‘This is when 49ers could make final decision’ – top source
Rangers’ decision to sack Philippe Clement came just days after news broke of a potential takeover from 49ers Enterprises.
The Glasgow giants are subject to interest from the 49ers – who own English Championship side Leeds United.
Clement was replaced by Barry Ferguson in the Rangers dugout, with the club legend returning to Ibrox as interim boss and flanked by a collection of ex-Gers stars as his backroom staff.
It has been widely reported that the 49ers are entering a period of due diligence as they thrash out a potential buyout.
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has suggested when the potential new Rangers owners could make a manager decision.

Rangers could appoint new boss in the last month of the season, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed a decision on a permanent boss could come “hand-in-hand with the takeover” – potentially in the final month of the season.
Rangers sit second in the Scottish Premiership and are in the round of 16 in the Europa League – where they will face Fenerbahce across two legs.
Wyness claimed the club could be forced into a quicker decision if Ferguson performs “really poorly”.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It looks like this 49ers takeover may take time to get resolved.
“That will be the key as to when a managerial change will be made, in my opinion.
“It’ll come hand-in-hand with the takeover, potentially in the last month of the season.
“We’re a couple of months away from a change, unless it goes really poorly with Ferguson.
“I think the crowd will stick with him and give him a chance.
“But if there wasn’t the promise of the takeover, there would be revolutions at Rangers – there’d be hell to pay.
“If it falls through, there will be serious issues.
“But as it is, I understand why Ferguson has been brought in and we’ll have to wait and see if the takeover evolves.”

Rangers’ current owners bankroll £3m+ injection
A significant investment would secure a majority stake at Ibrox, with former chairman Dave King currently the largest shareholder at 13 per cent.
It has been confirmed that Rangers’ current owners have bankrolled a £3.6million injection after the club’s financial situation has been firmly in the spotlight over the past few months.
Although the club’s revenue increased from £83.8million to a record-breaking figure of £88.3million in 2023-24, their net losses surged by £4.1million to £17.2million across the same period.
