Forget Naismith: Rangers must seal Jan swoop for reported £1m-rated forward

COMMENT
Rangers have worked fairly quickly to get two new signings in already in the January transfer window but if the Gers are still looking for a new striker they must swoop for Nottingham Forest forward Jason Cummings over a return for former Rangers star Steven Naismith.
The Gers have been linked with a move for £1million-rated Cummings by the Sunday Post and a move for the 22-year-old would make a lot of sense for the Ibrox side.
Cummings is almost a decade younger than Naismith and if he was to be a success at Ibrox could offer the prospect of making a substantial profit somewhere down the line.
The former Hibs striker only joined Forest in the summer but after Mark Warburton and Davie Weir’s sackings, his chances at the City Ground could be limited.
He’s not exactly everyone’s cup of tea with some of his off-the-field antics splitting opinions but if he was to come to Ibrox and start rattling goals in, he’d at least be forgiven some daft moments here and there.
The striker had a great goalscoring record at Hibs and has scored four times in seventeen appearances for Forest since his summer move.
Cummings would also give Rangers something very different to what they currently have in attack and Cummings is the type of player who could fit really well alongside Alfredo Morelos.
On occasions where Rangers don’t play two strikers he can fill one of the wide spots if need be or make a strong back-up option for Graeme Murty while two prolific goalscorers in the squad would be a big helping hand trying to close the gap to Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic before the end of the season.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have tabled a six-figure bid for this international attacker.
