Rangers news: Campbell ‘expecting movement’ on Alfredo Morelos transfer after ‘telling’ development

Kevin Campbell has suggested “superb” Rangers star Alfredo Morelos could be preparing to leave the club after swapping agents.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed it could be time for the Gers to “cash in” on the 25-year-old.

As reported by the Daily Record on Monday (14 March), Morelos has signed with Footfeel and Echo Sports – whose clients include Inter’s Lautaro Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi.

The Colombian international, who is under contract at Ibrox until May 2023, has netted 19 goals in 40 appearances this term.

Campbell claimed the change suggests “movement” in the upcoming summer window.

He insisted Morelos will be a “coveted player”.

“That says to me that they’re rounding the cavalry,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“I’m expecting some movement there. He’s had a superb season and scored some really important goals in Europe and the Scottish Premiership.

“Normally players don’t change agents unless there’s going to be some movement.

“It could be him getting ready to sign a contract and Rangers could put their best offer on the table – but he will be a coveted player.

“Maybe it’s time for him to make the move, and time for Rangers to cash in if he won’t sign a new deal.”

Turkish giants Fenerbache became the latest side to express interest in the striker in January 2022, but a mooted £7million move failed to materialise.

Rangers

Morelos has scored 113 goals in 222 games for Rangers since joining from HJK Helsinki in 2017.

The Ibrox club sit three points adrift of Celtic atop the Scottish Premiership.
