Rangers news: Major update on potential Philippe Clement sack – sources

Rangers boss Philippe Clement is not in danger of losing his job despite a disappointing end to the 2023-24 campaign, sources have told Football Insider.

The Ibrox club lost in the Scottish Cup final against Celtic on Saturday (25 May) after also losing out to their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Nevertheless, Clement has made a good impression at Rangers since his arrival in October 2023 – and it is believed the Gers board of directors are happy with his performance so far.

There is not set to be any knee-jerk reaction to the recent disappointment which could see the ex-Monaco manager lose his job with the Glasgow giants.

Sources say the Belgian boss, 50, is now expecting backing in the summer transfer window.

Rangers have already wrapped up the signing of Brazillian full-back Jefte from Fluminense, after a successful loan spell with APOEL in the 2023-24 campaign.

As reported by Football Insider, the Gers are also in talks to sign centre-back Jose Cordoba from Levski Sofia.

The Ibrox club are desperate to ensure another title race with Celtic in the 2024-25 campaign after disappointment this term.

Rangers finished eight points adrift of their Glasgow rivals in the Scottish Premiership and conceded a last-gasp Adam Idah goal to lose the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park.

However, Clement delivered the Scottish League Cup in his first season at the club – beating Aberdeen 1-0 in December.
