Rangers news: McAvennie shares ‘incredible’ Fabio Silva verdict – ‘Celtic should be worried’
Celtic “should be worried” about Philippe Clement’s new-look Rangers side – especially Fabio Silva
Fabio Silva has been “incredible” for Rangers – and Celtic should be worried.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie hailed Gers boss Philippe Clement’s impressive system at Ibrox and his quality January recruitment.
Silva moved to Ibrox on loan from Premier League side Wolves for the remainder of the season and bagged his first goal in Rangers’ 3-0 win against Livingston on Saturday (3 February).
Rangers had a busy January window having signed Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande along with Silva.
Clement has spearheaded a revival at Ibrox that has seen the club close the gap significantly on Celtic, and McAvennie was adamant that their new additions would be crucial in the second half of the season.
But he singled out Silva and predicted he would be a key player for the Gers as they look to pip his former side to the title.
“Clement has brought him in and he’s been very good,” he told Football Insider.
“He wasn’t first choice at Wolves but he’s come up here and taken a couple of games to settle.
“But all of a sudden, he’s playing in a system that suits him and that he’s enjoying playing.

“Clement has got them playing a good system with the players that were there and the new boys they’ve brought in – Celtic should be worried.
“Silva could be incredible for them.”
