Rangers news: ‘Sensational’ Steven Davis quit claim issued – McLeish
Alex McLeish has tipped Steven Davis to leave Rangers at the end of his contract this summer.
The former Gers boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 37-year-old may want to go out on a “sensational high” after finding his game time limited under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
As quoted by the Daily Record (28 March), Davis admitted talks over a new deal are only just starting to “come to fruition”.

He stated he is not thinking beyond the end of the season, when his current terms are set to expire.
McLeish suggested the Northern Ireland legend could look to move on and extend his playing career.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s up to Gio. The smart money would be on that Steven, possibly, will seek a new chapter.
“If I’m looking at his age and looking at the amount of games he’s missed this season.
“Perhaps he’ll want to go out on a sensational high, whether it be the league or whether it be the cups.
“He’s certainly got the games left for him to achieve that monumentous status.
“Generally when a player gets older the common sense factor is: ‘Just let me go on with the job and we’ll speak after.’
“I don’t think it’s absolutely crucial for Steven Davis to get the contract tied up. If he decides it’s time to leave Rangers, I’m sure he’s heading for great coaching prowess. Possibly playing on for a wee while at another club.
“Let him get on with the things that are really important at this time. It’s not a case of individuals, it’s a case of the whole of Rangers.”

Davis has played 24 times for Rangers this season.
However, only five of those appearances have come under Van Bronckhorst.
