Rangers news: This is what ‘money men’ tell me after ‘sensational’ £70m Ibrox reveal – McLeish
Alex McLeish has heralded the “incredible” money-generating power of Rangers with the club on course to announce “sensational” revenue figures for the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers boss insisted “money men” have told him there’s “no way” the Glasgow giants cannot make money.
Analysis from Football Insider (26 March) has shown Rangers’ revenues are set to soar to as much as £70million for the current campaign.

Sources have told this site that would be a relatively “phenomenal” sum considering the club’s modern history.
The Light Blues announced revenues of £59million for the 2019/20 campaign and £47.7million for the Covid-hit 2020/21 season.
McLeish praised the Gers’ “sensational” financial power and suggested they could start putting a “stranglehold” on Scottish football.
McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Those figures are sensational. You wonder how that can happen in the Scottish league, which is not the strongest league.
“But of course, the European money has been very lucrative. Rangers have deserved that money because of their achievements in Europe and getting to the later stages.
“It really is incredible money for them to perhaps put a stranglehold on things. Also, to try and have dominance in the league.
“It just reinforces what people have been saying to me for years, money men. Guys who don’t support Rangers have said to me there’s no way Rangers can’t make money.
“They’ll continue to make money despite some hard-luck times. The relegation, going through the divisions and then the pandemic.
“They’re still highly capable of earning fantastic revenue.”

Rangers’ finances have been significantly boosted by their success on the European stage.
They are already in line for a £20m-plus bounty from the Europa League this season, with a quater-final tie with Braga still to come.
