Rangers are not expected to make any announcement on a manager appointment until after the final day of the 2024-25 campaign, sources have told Football Insider.

Barry Ferguson is in place at Ibrox as the interim boss after succeeding Philippe Clement last month.

Ferguson, 47, has strengthened his chances of landing the full-time gig after recent wins over Fenerbahce and Celtic – and would be interested in the role.

But the process is ongoing and linked to the in-progress takeover at Rangers by the consortium fronted by 49ers Enterprises.

Rangers to make manager announcement post-season

The US investors have agreed a deal in principle to buy a majority stake at Ibrox and the buyout is expected to go through in the coming months.

As such, a manager appointment is not imminent and Ferguson is set to see out the remainder of this season in charge of his boyhood club.

Football Insider has previously revealed (21 March) that Rangers could be backed with a £20-25million budget in the summer transfer window.

The Gers currently sit 13 points behind Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership – which will draw to a close on 18 May.

Rangers are still in the Europa League and face Athletic Bilbao across two legs in the quarter-final next month.

Miller to Rangers update – Celtic also in race

Football Insider has previously revealed (29 March) that Rangers have next to no chance of signing Lennon Miller this summer unless they first raise funds in the transfer market.

Both Rangers and arch-rivals Celtic vying to win the race for the 18-year-old Motherwell star.

Lyon are the latest club beyond Scottish borders to show an interest in Miller, following failed January bids from Udinese and Union Saint-Gilloise for the teenager.
