Michael O'Halloran: This is my motivation after returning to Rangers

Rangers attacker Michael O’Halloran has revealed that competition for places at Ibrox will motivate him to do well after being given a second chance by manager Graeme Murty.
O’Halloran’s Ibrox career looked over after no-showing an Under-20’s game last season before joining St. Johnstone on a short-term loan deal in the summer.
After scoring five times in 17 appearances for the Saints, O’Halloran has been thrown a lifeline by Murty as the striker looks to salvage his Ibrox career.
O’Halloran revealed having Daniel Candeias, Josh Windass and new signing Jamie Murphy competing for places out wide will make him “train and work harder” to prove himself and earn a place in the starting XI.
“It definitely motivates you when you have got players in the same position as you and you’re pushing for the one place,” O’Halloran said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“It makes you work that little bit harder and train and work harder. I’m looking forward to that work and trying to show the manager what I can do and hopefully he sees me as part of his team.”
“I want to come and play games and play a part in the team and in a successful Rangers side, that’s my aim.”
The 27-year-old joined Rangers in 2016 from St. Johnstone from £400,000 and has scored three times in 37 appearances for the Ibrox side.
O’Halloran caused controversy last season when he failed to show for an Under-20’s clash with Hearts that he was scheduled to start.
The attacker was banished from the first-team squad by then-manager Pedro Caixinha as a result and was forced to train on his own at the club’s Auchenhowie training base.
O’Halloran’s Rangers contract runs until 2020 and the former St. Johnstone and Bolton forward will be hoping to prove himself at Ibrox second time around.
