Rangers owners bankroll £5m+ injection after deal agreed
Rangers have received a £5.3million injection from their owners in the form of a new share issue, sources have told Football Insider.
As per a Companies House submission on Monday (10 March), the club’s holding company Rangers International Football Club PLC has issued 26.7 million shares.
Each share was purchased at 20 pence per one pence share, taking the total investment to £5.3million.
It comes after Rangers’ owners injected £3.6million into the club last month in a similar transaction.
The Scottish giants’ financial situation has been firmly in the spotlight over the past few months after the club recorded heavy losses last season.
Although the Glasgow side’s revenue increased from £83.8million to a record-breaking £88.3million in 2023-24, their net losses surged by £4.1million to £17.2million.
Football Insider revealed on 26 December Rangers chiefs want to cut the wage bill further after it dropped from £64million in 2022-23 to £61.1million last season.
Rangers takeover completion date revealed after deal agreed
Rangers have been the subject of intense takeover speculation over the past few weeks.
The 49ers Enterprises-backed takeover appears to be progressing following widespread reports claiming a deal has now been agreed in principle.
The US consortium, which includes Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe and health insurance tycoon Andrew Cavenagh, is looking to secure a majority stake and wants control of the Ibrox boardroom by buying at least 51 per cent of the club’s shares.
Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Rangers’ takeover could be completed at the end of the season despite there so far being no official announcement confirming a deal has been agreed.
Former chairman Dave King is currently the club’s largest shareholder at 13 per cent, with various other stakeholders owning minority interests.

Barry Ferguson has no chance of landing Rangers job
Philippe Clement was sacked as manager last month, with former captain Barry Ferguson taking on the role on an interim basis until the end of the season.
Former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider Ferguson has no chance of landing the Rangers job permanently as he looks to turn the club’s fortunes around in the final weeks of the campaign.
The 47-year-old has claimed victories in two of his opening three matches in charge, including an impressive 3-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.
Rangers will host the Turkish side at Ibrox in the second leg on Thursday (13 March) as they look to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
