Midfield horror show with 2/10: Rangers player ratings in shocking loss v Celtic
Celtic booked thier place in the Scottish Cup final against Motherwell with a shocking 4-0 win over Rangers at Hampden as the Gers failed to turn up against their bitter rivals.
Brendan Rodgers’ side took control of the game as the first-half started to settle down following a frenetic start, and put the Light Blues ‘ defence under pressure in the search for an opening goal.
Murty’s side were responsible for many of their own problems by continually giving the ball away far too easily in midfield, and Celtic made their dominance count when Tom Rogic opened the scoring on 21 minutes, curling one beyond Wes Foderingham from 14 yards.
It was 2-0 just before half-time as Russell Martin’s woeful first-touch set up Callum McGregor to cooly slot the ball home and the Gers’ afternoon went from bad to worse when Ross McCrorie was shown a straight red on 51 minutes after pulling Dembele and giving away a penalty – which the Frenchman casually dinked home.
The Ibrox side could have had a consolation goal when a clearance looped over Craig Gordon and smacked off the bar but Alfredo Morelos froze when the rebound fell to him with the goal at his mercy.
