Steven Gerrard will have had nightmares watching Sunday’s Old Firm derby as his potential new side were thrashed for the second time in a row by bitter rivals Celtic, losing 5-0 at Celtic Park as the Hoops were crowned Scottish Premiership champions for a seventh successive season.

The Hoops had Rangers on the backfoot from the very first whistle as they pinned back Graeme Murty’s side and forced a number of saved from Jak Alnwick in the opening quarter of an hour.

Celtic opened the scoring after 14 minutes through Odsonne Edouard when the Frenchman poked home Kieran Tierney’s cross.

The Gers tried to get back into the match and found themselves having more possession as the first-half went on as they finally started to get a foothold in the game.

With just a few minutes before the break Edouard drove from deep before burying the ball beyond Alnwick.

Brendan Rodgers’ side weren’t stopping there though as Callum McGregor added a fifth in 53 minutes as  Gerrard was no doubt watching through his the cracks in his fingers.
