Rangers player ratings v Hibernian: Forget goalscorers, 26-year-old is the real hero

COMMENT

Rangers continued their winning run as they ground out a 2-1 win over Neil Lennon’s Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday night.

Hibs took an early lead as Rangers conceded the opener in the ninth minute for the second consecutive game.

Bruno Alves should have done so much better in the build-up to Lewis Stevenson’s goal as Neil Lennon’s side took a surprise lead.

Rangers lost veteran striker Kenny Miller to a hamstring injury just minutes later as he was stretchered off to be replaced by Daniel Candeias.

Josh Windass kept up his recent run of fine goal-scoring form by grabbing Rangers’ equaliser just a few minutes before half-time with a well-taken finish.

With just seconds left in the first-half, Colombia striker Alfredo Morelos scored his second goal in as many games as he rifled a shot in at Ofir Marciano’s front post.

Hibs put Rangers under pressure throughout the second-half as they looked to grab a way back into the game but Graeme Murty’s side held on and secured their fourth win in a row.

The result leaves Rangers five points off leaders Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
