Rangers player ratings v Kilmarnock: Senior quartet 5/10 in yet another loss

COMMENT

Rangers fell to their second successive defeat in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday when Graeme Murty’s side lost 1-0 at the hands of Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

Murty’s side started brightly and enjoyed a lot of possession as Kilmarnock looked happy to sit deep and try to pick off the Light Blues on the counter.

Russell Martin really should have made it 1-0 in the 22nd minute when the 32-year-old headed wide from close-range from Sean Goss’ cross.

Steve Clarke’s side finally found a foothold in the game as the first-half wore on and began to see more of the ball in Rangers’ half of the pitch without ever really threatening.

The Light Blues became noticeably frustrated as they struggled to break Kilmarnock down with Jason Cummings finding himself more and more isolated.

Kilmarnock turned things around and finally got themselves in front when Kris Boyd hit his 20th goal of the season after 55 minutes.

The goal was the sign for Killie to sit back again and try choke the life out the game and the Rangers players quickly let their heads go down.

After such a bright start from the Gers, Murty will certainly be disappointed with how his side managed the game and allowed Kilmarnock to get into the game and then dictate the tempo.
