Rangers player ratings vs Dundee – Abdallah Sima flops, 3/10 completes just eight passes
Rangers may have ruined their chance of winning the league title after they battled out a 0-0 draw away against Dundee on Wednesday night (17 April).
The clash at Dens Park kicked off at the third time of asking, but Philippe Clement’s side put out an edgeless and lacklustre display which gave rivals Celtic a huge chance to cement their spot at the top of the table.
Football Insider has analysed the Rangers starting line-up’s performances against the Dee.
PLAYER RATINGS
Jack Butland [8]
Made a super save in the 21st minute when Dundee had a free kick in a dangerous area – luckily the rebound was offside. Once again he was Rangers’ best player.

Dujon Sterling [6]
Decent in attack and made a handful of good tackles to halt Dundee’s surprisingly aggressive attack. With three clearances and two successful ground duels across the 90, Clement will not be angry at his left-back.
John Souttar [7]
An assured display from the Scotsman and he frequently shielded the ball well against the progressive Dundee frontline. With 90 per cent pass accuracy, five successful aerial duels and three clearances, he proved to be a needed presence for Clement.
Connor Goldson [7]
Assured in the backline and read the impending Dundee long balls very well. Huge improvement from his last Rangers outing. Quality.
James Tavernier [6]
The star man linked up very well when he advanced into the midfield and was perhaps the most creative outlet in the side. He lost possession 19 times and made only two tackles, but his progressive passes should have made the difference if the captain’s attack were sharper.

John Lundstram [6]
Maintained possession very well and managed to deliver the ball to the attack, but really lacked a standout moment. Was the lynchpin of the midfield, but that is not saying much following the timid outing. Still, he managed 14 long balls, 86 per cent pass accuracy and 84 touches. Decent, if forgettable.
Tom Lawrence [4]
Won the ball a lot to break up the Dees’ attack and managed 100 per cent dribble completion, but lacked the cutting edge to really give his side a chance on goal. committed two fouls and lacked the creativity needed at Dens Park. Middling.
Todd Cantwell [6]
A handful of skilful moves proved futile and his creativity was silenced by a steadfast Dundee backline. That being said, he turned out to be one of Rangers’ most attacking players having made two key passes and two shots, but was largely blunted.
Fabio Silva [5]
May as well have been on the bench in the opening 45, but he would have been frustrated that his decent runs went unnoticed. However, Silva brought very little in terms of attacking threat himself having managed just one attempted shot and 13 passes. He did secure four successful dribbles and five successful ground duels. Mixed.
Abdallah Sima [2]

Was the focal point for the Gers in the opening 45, but struggled to do much with the ball and squandered the first-half’s best chance. His three attempted shots were all pathetic, managed just a 25 per cent ground duel success rate and, while stretching the Dundee backline, he offered nothing. Back-to-back stinkers.
Kemar Roofe [3]
Made interesting runs from deep, but the final ball into the attack was often wayward. Did little to threaten the Dundee goal and with just one attempted shot, eight passes and 24 touches, he had a forgettable outing.
