Rangers player rations v Hamilton: Midfielder is unsung hero

By Dominic Toner

Football Insider rates the Rangers player after their 6-0 victory against Hamilton in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

Wes Foderingham 6 – He should have been shown a red card in the first-half for catching the ball outside the penalty area and denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. Was very quiet for the rest of the match.

James Tavernier 6 – Supported the attack all afternoon down the right flank and had little defensive responsibility.

Rob Kiernan 7 – He managed to bounce back perfectly from his red card in the last game and was dominant in the air.

Clint Hill 7 – The veteran defender was solid defensively and also wrapped up the fourth game with a bullet header.

Lee Wallace 6 – He played more like a winger for the Gers and linked up well with Barrie McKay.

Jason Holt 6 – Went fairly unnoticed in the Rangers midfield and just went about doing the simple things well.

Jon Toral 6 – Earned his side a spot kick when he was fouled in the penalty area. He was steady in the midfield for the most-part, scored the third goal with a left footed effort after a corner kick.

Emerson Hyndman 7 – Should have scored in the first-half, but his effort was straight at the goalkeeper from point-blank range. However, looks very solid in the Rangers middle and is definitely the unsung hero. He has been a massive boost to the side and they are now playing much better football.

Martyn Waghorn 7 – Opened the scoring with a composed penalty. Looks somewhere near back to his best from last season.

Kenny Miller 6 – The veteran striker worked hard up top, but was replaced at half-time and could perhaps do with a rest. Saw a spectacular volley tipped on to the crossbar.

Barrie McKay 7 – Demonstrated his tricky all game with some great moments on the ball. He was gliding past his opponents with ease.

Joe Garner (for Miller 45mins) – The attacker came on at half-time and scored a hat-trick to boost his confidence hugely.

Michael O’Halloran (for Waghorn 75mins) 6

Harry Forrester (for Hyndman 82mins) 6
