‘Rangers players have been slagging off Celtic’ and Fashion Sakala ‘looks like a fool’ – pundit

Frank McAvennie has slammed Fashion Sakala for his comments about Celtic in the lead up to the cup final against Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker suggested senior players at Ibrox should have told Sakala to “shut up”.

As quoted by the Daily Record (22 February), speaking at a press conference ahead of the derby final, the 25-year-old referred to their Glasgow rivals as “the other mob” and claimed the Gers were a “better team and a better club”.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times (25 February), when asked about Sakala’s comments, Hoops skipper Callum McGregor insisted his team were not paying attention to outside noise.

McGregor said his side were solely focused on the game and not commenting about other clubs or players.

The Celts’ concentration clearly paid off as they went on to beat their Glasgow rivals 201 and lift the Viaplay cup.

When asked about Sakala’s comments, McAvennie told Football Insider:Get on with the job.

Celtic all week have not said anything, Rangers players have been slagging off Celtic saying that other mob.

Rangers

I have not got a problem with that but I keep saying, do your talking on the pitch. It is great leading up to a cup final saying you are going to do this and that but if you do not do it, it makes you look like a fool.

Sakala has got unbelievable talent and he should just keep it to the pitch. The older players should be telling him to shut up because they do not need any more pressure on them.
