Rangers sack latest: ‘Philippe Clement could be sacked next week’
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Phillipe Clement’s job at Rangers could become untenable if they lose against the Dons next week.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted fan pressure will become “incredible” if the Gers slip further behind the surprise package.
Rangers are already six points behind Aberdeen after losing 1-0 away at Kilmarnock on Sunday (20 October).
Clement’s side face Romanian side FCSB and St Mirren in the coming days before hosting Aberdeen next week (30 October).
Football Insider revealed on 21 October that Rangers are stepping up plans to sack the Belgian.
That is despite handing him a new contract in the off-season which will run until 2028.
Rangers fan pressure could see Clement sacked next week, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The Celtic games seem to be the measure, he hasn’t got those right so far.
“The Aberdeen result at Celtic was incredible, 2-2 away is a great result and leaves them six points ahead of Rangers.
“It’s a bit early to say they’ve entered the race, but it puts the pressure on Rangers.
“They play each other soon, and if they lose that – there will be some real pressure on Clement.

“Being on the board at Rangers and living in Glasgow would be almost unbearable.
“The pressure from the fans is incredible.”
