Rangers second-half XI ratings v Atletico Mineiro: Senior player 9/10
COMMENT
Rangers kicked off their Florida Cup campaign in the early hours of Friday when they took on Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro at the Orlando City Stadium – winning 1-0 against the South Americans.
Manager Graeme Murty made 10 changes at half-time from the side that started the game with only goalkeeper Jak Alnwick emerging for both halves.
Neither side was able to break the deadlock in the first-half with the Brazilians going closest when they hit Alnwick’s upright but Rangers were able to scramble the ball clear.
The Gers came out looking much hungrier in the second-half and took a deserved lead through Josh Windass after 68 minutes when the former Accrington star cooly swept home Eduardo Herrera’s lay off.
Murty’s side controlled much of the second-half and could have won by an even bigger margin if they had a little bit more luck with Windass having a number of chances to double the Gers’ lead.
Andy Halliday and Michael O’Halloran both made their returns from loan spells in the win over Brazilian side with Halliday captaining the side in the second 45.
The Gers face Corinthians in their final game on Saturday night.
