Rangers senior figure quits as new Ibrox hire made – official paperwork filed

Rangers have confirmed the appointment of a new secretary and the exit of one high-profile director, sources have told Football Insider.

As per Companies House submissions on Friday (8 November), it has been revealed Creag Robertson has seen his role as director of football operations officially terminated at Ibrox.

James Taylor has also seen his position as secretary terminated, but he will remain with the Scottish giants as chief financial officer.

Graham Horsman, who joined Rangers in January as a football legal counsel, will take over the role of secretary following the behind-the-scenes reshuffle.

Robertson’s departure is the latest in a string of high-profile exits over the past few months.

Former Rangers director John Gilligan is temporarily filling in as chairman after John Bennett stood down on health grounds in September, while the club are also without a CEO following James Bisgrove’s departure earlier this year.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider the Glasgow side have an “enormous” issue to address following their recent boardroom exits.

Rangers facing financial challenges as another exit confirmed

It comes at a time when Rangers’ financial situation is being heavily scrutinised after they released their latest accounts for 2023-24 on 29 October.

The club’s core revenue increased from £83.8million in 2022-23 to a record-breaking £88.3million, while their total income was £94.2million.

But their net losses rose by £4.1million to £17.2million last season, indicating the financial challenges Ibrox chiefs are currently facing.

Borson told Football Insider those losses leave Rangers in a “vulnerable” position as they are reliant on their owners putting money in to keep things ticking over.

While Philippe Clement’s side have had a reasonable start to their Europa League campaign this season, having picked up seven points from a possible 12, their form in the Scottish Premiership has fallen well below expectations.

Rangers currently sit third in the table, nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen.
