Rangers set for Abdallah Sima talks with Brighton – sources
Rangers will hold talks with Brighton over the possibility of signing Abdallah Sima on a permanent deal this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Gers would love to make Sima their player once the transfer window reopens in a matter of weeks.
The Senegalese international had been in fine form for the Light Blues before a series of injuries hampered the second half of his season.
O’Rourke revealed Brighton will now be deciding whether to sell the 22-year-old or send him out on loan again for another campaign.
Football Insider revealed last month the English Premier League side are willing to accept a bid in the region of £6million for Sima – the same price they paid Slavia Prague to sign him in 2021.
As things currently stand, the winger is set to return to the Amex Stadium, where his contract expires in June 2025.
Rangers finances to dictate Abdallah Sima permanent deal
Sima has enjoyed a strong season with Rangers after registering 16 goals and laying on two assists in 38 appearances.
But the Senegalese has only scored twice since the turn of the year after a reoccurring hamstring issue has seen him miss three of the past four months.
The winger’s injury woes hampered the Gers’ pursuit of the Scottish Premiership title, with Celtic going on to claim the trophy.
O’Rourke suggested Philippe Clement will now be weighing up whether the finances are there at Ibrox to secure a permanent deal for Sima.

The Belgian has revealed he is planning a “big” rebuild ahead of the transfer window reopening as he looks to reshape his squad.
The Gers manager would like Sima to be part of his future plans, with the upcoming discussions with Brighton set to dictate whether that’s a realistic possibility.
In other news, John Lundstram now expected to leave Rangers after “whispers”.
