Rangers set to secure new signing despite failed deadline day negotiations - report
By Aramide Oladipo
Hearts forward Jamie Walker is poised to put pen to paper on a pre-contract with Rangers when the January transfer window opens, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claims that the 24-year-old will complete a free transfer to Ibrox in January as he is currently in the final year of his contract with Hearts.
The newspaper reports that both clubs opened up negotiations about a potential deal on the last day of the summer transfer window as new Hearts boss was willing to lower the asking price of £1million.
The report claims that Hearts were open to selling Walker if they managed to receive a player in a part-exchange deal but it failed to materialise.
Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha will be relieved as their SPL rivals reportedly turned down two of their offers for the forward earlier in the summer.

The Scot enjoyed a fantastic campaign with Hearts last season, contributing with 15 goals and seven assists in all competitions.
Walker also bagged himself a brace against the Gers as Hearts strolled to emphatic 4-1 league victory last season.
The forward has featured in five matches for Hearts this season but he has failed to provide a single goal or assist in the process.
Football Insider verdict
Walker has been on Rangers’ radar throughout the entire summer and they will be delighted to snap him up on a free transfer once the January transfer window opens. Although the winger has struggled to replicate last season’s form this time around, he will surely be out to impress once he completes a move to Ibrox after the new year. Although many might have worried that Rangers failed to get the deal over the line on deadline day, it appears to be smart business from the Glaswegian club as they are set to save money and receive a talented player from one of the rivals on a free transfer.
