Sources: Rangers star Leon King agrees quadruple-your-money deal

Rangers star Leon King has agreed a quadruple-your-money new deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Glasgow giants are set to end speculation over the future of the centre-back, 18, after reaching a full agreement over a four-year contract.

It is believed that Rangers are set to announce on Thursday (15 December) that King has penned a deal running until 2026.

Sources have said that King has secured a huge pay hike that will lift his salary to £10,000-a-week.

The new deal ends Rangers fears that the defender would quit in the January window for one of his many Premier League suitors.

It is believed that Leeds were among the clubs down south who offered a deal to King, while there has also been strong interest from Man United and Newcastle United.

King has been convinced that his development is best served by staying at Rangers, where he is already established in the first team.

The centre-back has made 20 appearances for the Ibrox club across all competitions, including seven starts in the Scottish Premiership.

The imminent deal is a major boost for new Rangers boss Michael Beale as well as for the team’s medium and long-term future.

The departures of the likes of academy products Billy Gilmour and Rory Wilson to Chelsea and Aston Villa in recent years has been a blow to the Ibrox giants.

Beale was part of the coaching staff when Steven Gerrard gave the youngster his first-team debut in the Scottish Premiership against Livingston in 2021.

The former Ibrox coach signalled King’s key role in his new-look side by giving him 84 minutes during the 3-0 friendly defeat of Leverkusen on Saturday (10 December).

Rangers return to competitive action with a Scottish Premiership clash against Hibernian on Thursday (15 December).
