Rangers star Max Aarons reacts after ex-Celtic player agrees deal

Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Jeffrey Schlupp on a free transfer after his departure from Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Schlupp, 32, spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic and collected an SPFL winner’s medal while his parent club Crystal Palace lifted the FA Cup.

Having also previously lifted the Premier League with Leicester City, he brings winning experience to Liam Manning’s side alongside his excellent versatility.

The deal came after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 22 July that Norwich were in advanced talks with Schlupp over a move to Carrow Road.

West Brom had also been interested in Schlupp, but the Canaries moved quickly to steal a march on their Championship rivals as they aim to strengthen their squad.

Schlupp is able to play in midfield or at left-back, with his versatility set to lend Manning’s side a valuable asset as they aim to reach the Championship playoffs this season.

His arrival comes during a busy summer in which they have also completed deals for Mathias Kvistgaarden, Jacob Wright, Vladan Kovacevic, Jakob Medic, Harry Darling and Louie Moulden.

Following the announcement of the former Celtic man’s arrival, posts were liked by Rangers and Fulham stars Max Aarons and Calvin Bassey.

Aarons spent seven years at Norwich after joining from Luton in 2016 before he left to join Bournemouth in 2023, but remains very fond of the Canaries.

Josh Sargent update emerges amid Leeds United interest

While Norwich continue to bring new signings to the club this summer, they are also at risk of losing major assets amid speculation surrounding Josh Sargent.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 3 July that Leeds remain very interested in signing Sargent thanks to Daniel Farke’s influence.

The forward had also been strongly linked with a move to Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, but recent reports have claimed that deal is now off, in a new boost to Leeds.

However, Football Insider revealed in March that Leeds want to sign somebody better than Sargent, with ambitious targets on their list at Elland Road.
