Rangers star Katic backed to complete move to new club after update via BBC
Rangers defender Nikola Katic should be sent out on loan in order to aid his recovery from injury.
So says ex-Ibrox favourite Alan Hutton, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old Croatian centre-back.
Katic, who is under contract in Glasgow until 2023, has been sidelined since July 2020 with a ruptured cruciate ligament.
The defender posted a,picture of himself on Instagram on 15 August celebrating a Rangers goal with the caption: “Many more like this to come.”
That comes after various reports linked with him an Ibrox exit, and Steven Gerrard admitted at his media conference reported by BBC Sport today that talks are taking place over a loan move.
Hutton claims that Katic can still play a big role for the first team but should consider a loan move to accelerate his full recovery.

“He was one of the best defenders at the club before the injury,” he told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.
“It just sort of came out of the blue, the transfer stuff. It was a bit of a strange one because it seeemed to come out of nowhere, people saying he was off.
“But he’s come out on social media and said: ‘No, I’m here and I want to stay.’ But it is a position where they are heavily stacked at the moment.
“He is coming back from a serious injury and I think from a player’s point of view, he’ll want to play football.
“Is he going to get that time at Rangers? I’m not so sure, I think there is a lot of people ahead of him.
“It could be an option for him to go out on loan somewhere and then come back and try and be a regular starter.
“That’s a more seinsble option rather than biding your time to break back into the first XI.”
