Kenny Miller has had his time and unless he can quickly turn his performances around, the veteran striker should be shown the Ibrox exit door.
There was a time when senior player Miller scored goals regularly, had a big impact on the way Rangers played and was one of the best strikers in the country.
Now, he’s cumbersome, slows down play and is much better suited to being an impact substitute.
With Alfredo Morelos looking like he couldn’t score at the minute if his life depended on it, Rangers need a second forward who brings goals to the side and makes opposition defender’s lives a misery.
That’s not Miller.
It’s maybe not Eduardo Herrera or Ryan Hardie either – but it’s definitely not Miller.
It’s hard to blame Graeme Murty when you see what he has to work with in the interim but whoever takes the reins long-term should likely make finding a replacement for Miller their first priority.
Against Hamilton it was difficult to know which position Miller was supposed to be playing.
Too often the veteran striker comes deep to get the ball but simply leaves a free defender to close off any passing options and it’s never really obvious if he’s playing as a number 10 or an out-and-out partner for Morelos.
Either way, with his contract running out at the end of the season Miller needs to strive to up his game quickly before he is replaced.
