Rangers news: Expert issues ‘heavily disruptive’ claim amid Aaron Ramsey latest – ‘big red flag’

Aaron Ramsey’s new injury will “heavily disrupt” his Rangers training schedule and does not bode well for the Europa League semi-final.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.

Ramsey, 31, was forced off with a hamstring problem in last Sunday’s (17 April) eventual 2-1 win over Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Rangers

The Welsh midfielder has struggled since his blockbuster loan move from Juventus in January as injuries have severely limited his minutes.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst claimed that it was not yet clear how long he would be sidelined, as quoted by footballscotland on Monday (18 April),

Rangers take on RB Leipzig in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie next Thursday (28 April).

And Dinnery claims that Ramsey’s chances of playing a part in the clash in Germany are slim to none.

“It’s a worry,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“We know his stature and his status but he has not played a great deal. He is yet to complete 90 minutes for Rangers.

“We can’t be sure of the details yet. But at the very best, it is going to be a heavily disrupted training period.

“Even if it was only a minor strain, you aren’t going to get a long time to prepare for that Europa League game.

“He’s going to be out for seven to 10 days at the very best. There is a very minor, outside chance of making the squad. But this is a big red flag.”

Rangers

Ramsey has supplied two assists in his 10 appearances for Rangers.

The Glasgow giants take on Motherwell on Saturday (23 April) before they travel to Leipzig the following week.
