Medical expert predicts how many Rangers games Ryan Jack will miss after ‘agonising’ update

Ryan Jack could be set to miss another three games as he recovers from his latest injury setback at Rangers.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Jack was dealt a fresh injury blow after he suffered a knock to the ankle in the 5-0 victory over Hearts earlier this month (6 February).

Rangers

The 29-year-old midfielder has missed the vast majority of the season so far with a calf problem that spilt over from 2020-21.

Gers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst told the Daily Record last Sunday (8 February) that he doesn’t think Jack’s latest setback is “too serious.”

But Dinnery suggests that Rangers will not want to take any risks and that he could be unavailable for the next handful of fixtures.

“From what we know, the ankle injury itself isn’t too sinister,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“But it’s everything else that has gone on previously with Ryan Jack that might mean the club want to manage him more carefully.

“He has spent around eight or nine months out with a calf problem. Since returning in November, his minutes have been very limited.

“It’s agonising for a player when all you want to do is get back into the rhythm again but you pick up little niggles.

“When you put context around this, this issue wouldn’t be a massive problem for most players.

“But when we talk about an ankle problem that sets you back for around three games on the back of nine months out, the repercussions are greater.

Rangers

Jack could miss Rangers’ Europa League play-off first-leg clash against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday (17 February).

The reigning Scottish champions face Dundee United and Motherwell in their next two league fixtures.
