Rangers attacker Josh Windass has sent a message on Twitter to former Ibrox team-mate Martyn Waghorn after the ex-Gers striker had a dazzling season with Ipswich Town – and said he was “made up” for Waghorn after was directly involved in more Championship goals than any other players this season.
The former Rangers striker joined Ipswich from the Gers last summer and was one of two signings the Portman Road side made from the Light Blues last year – with Joe Garner also signing for Mick McCarthy’s side.
Waghorn has hit the net 16 times and been credited with 11 assists for the Tractor Boys this term after his move from Ibrox and Windass was quick to praise his form.
“Brilliant season mate made up for you,” Windass said in his personal Twitter account.

Football Insider verdict
Waghorn was unfairly criticised at times during his spell with Rangers and offered much more than he was given credit for. 16 goals and 11 assists is a phenomenal contribution from the striker as Ipswich could only manage a mid-table finish in the Championship this season. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Waggy maintain that next season and help Ipswich on to a better position in the league. The former Sunderland striker would have fit quite well in the current Gers side with Daniel Candeias and Jamie Murphy out wide and would no doubt have continued to contribute goals and assists had he been allowed to stay at Ibrox last season. Selling Waghorn was arguably one of the few departures Pedro Caixinha got wrong – Clint Hill is another – and he would have been a big asset for the Ibrox giants this season had Caixinha not made the decision to sell him in favour of Eduardo Herrera.
