Rangers table seven-figure offer for playmaker as Caixinha seeks ninth signing – report
By Danny Wright
Rangers have met Norwich’s asking price for Graham Dorrans, according to a report.
The Express claims that the Light Blues have tabled a seven-figure bid worth £1.5million for the 30-year-old, which meets the valuation that Norwich have placed upon their experienced playmaker.
However it is understood that the Canaries are yet to allow Rangers to enter discussions with Dorrans as they are yet to hear back from the English Championship club’s board, with the Glaswegians eager to “make a breakthrough” over the course of next week.
The report says that the former West Brom and Livingston midfielder is eager to secure a move to Ibrox, which would make him Caixinha’s ninth signing since last season ended.
Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Dalcio, Daniel Candeias, Fabio Cardoso, Alfredo Morelos, Eduardo Herrera and Carlos Pena have all been announced through the door at Ibrox, with five of them already making their Gers debuts in the 1-0 win over Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Dorrans, who has 11 international caps for Scotland, made 24 appearances across all competitions for Norwich last season, scoring six goals despite suffering a serious muscle injury mid-way through the campaign.
Football Insider Verdict
Dorrans could be Rangers’ best buy of the summer if they manage to get a deal across the line. He was brilliant for Norwich last season, even though he missed a large part of the campaign through injury. He’s a very versatile midfielder and although he likes to play in the centre of the park, he is adept at playing in a No 10 role or even on the wing, which could add a new dimension to Caixinha’s attack. Pena and Jack have already been added to the Gers midfield, but Dorran’s experience of playing top level football in England with West Brom should see him move to the top of the pecking order.
