Rangers takeover: Stefan Borson reacts to 49ers latest
Rangers are looking to turn their fortunes around on the pitch as they prepare for the start of a new era at Ibrox.
The Scottish giants have failed to claim any silverware this season after being knocked out of the Europa League and the domestic cup competitions.
Celtic have been crowned Scottish Premiership champions with four games left to play, having built up a 17-point lead over Rangers.
The 49ers Enterprises-backed group has agreed a deal in principle to take the reins at Ibrox.
The US consortium, which includes Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe and health insurance tycoon Andrew Cavenagh, is looking to secure a majority takeover and wants control of the boardroom.
Reports have suggested former director Sandy Easdale holds a potentially decisive say as Cavenagh and Marathe aim to purchase a controlling stake.
However, the Rangers Review reported on 20 April Easdale’s 2.25 per cent stake is not needed to complete the deal as the 51 per cent has already been secured.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the Glasgow side are moving in the right direction as the takeover edges closer and appointments have been confirmed behind the scenes.
Rangers have announced Kevin Thelwell as their new sporting director after Patrick Stewart was appointed CEO in December.

Rangers well placed after new hires
Borson suggested Rangers now have a good executive team in place at Ibrox.
He told Football Insider: “To me from the outside, they seem to be a club that’s starting to put some good things in place and the new ownership would help.
“They have got a good executive team.
“They have got changes to the sporting director coming up.
“They are clearly able to produce when they get to the Europa League or if they can get in the Champions League.
“But they are able to get to the latter stages of European competition, which is profitable.
“I think there are lots of things going in the right direction.
“Clearly, if they can bring in people like the 49ers consortium, again that’s all signs of steps in the right direction.”
