Rangers have been listed as the only club in the running to sign former Celtic striker Anthony Stokes, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
BetVictor have installed the Light Blues at 16/1 to sign Stokes, 29, before Saturday February 3 after the Republic of Ireland was made a free agent by Hibernian.
Stokes had his contract mutually terminated by Hibs on transfer deadline day, but now bizarrely, the ex-Celtic man is being tipped with a move to Ibrox.
The centre-forward had made 21 appearances in all competitions for Neil Lennon’s side this season, scoring 11 goals and supplying four assists in what was his second spell at Easter Road.
He was only signed by Hibs in the summer after his deal was cancelled at Blackburn.
Dublin-born Stokes, a nine-times Republic of Ireland international, has played for a large number of clubs in his career and spent six years at Celtic between 2010 and 2016.
He made 192 total appearances for the Bhoys and scored 76 goals.
It would no doubt be ridiculous to think that the ex-Hoops player would contemplate his next move being to Ibrox.
Graeme Murty has very likely finished his business for the season after a successful January transfer window, and although free agents can still be signed up and registered, it would be a massive shock if the Gers were to sign Stokes.
