Rangers tipped to accept multiple 'January offers' as firesale expected - Glasgow pundit

Rangers are facing a mass exodus in January following recent developments at the club.

That’s according to former Celtic hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gers’ recent financial report.

The Scottish champions posted a loss of £23.5million for the year ending June 2021, as per the 64-page annual report document published on 5 November.

This came before Gerrard’s move to Aston Villa was confirmed on Thursday morning.

Connor Goldson is out of contract next summer and is yet to agree a new deal with the club.

McAvennie has named him as one key player who could leave in January.

When asked if Rangers need to brace for multiple player exits in January, McAvennie told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild, “Yes, I think so.

“If any offers come in during January, they will be gone. That’s not a slight against Rangers.

“Just look at the finances, they can only hold off on selling players for so long.

“Now they have lost their leader as well. I think some players might ask the question.

“Unless a top manager replaces Gerrard, I don’t see some of those bigger players staying.

“You look at Goldson, I don’t see him signing a deal now. Why would he?

“If he’s already thinking of leaving, he could easily follow Gerrard out of Ibrox in January.”

Rangers are next in action against Hibernian after the international break.

Meanwhile, Ibrox sources have told this site the Gers have already identified two managers who could replace Gerrard.
