Rangers tipped to agree striker signing amid ‘big’ Antonio Colak claim – expert

Alan Hutton has insisted Rangers need to sign a striker in the summer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said that although Antonio Colak is a “very good option,” Michael Beale needs another striker if Alfredo Morelos leaves.

Morelos, 26, is out of contract at the end of the season and could depart Ibrox for nothing in the summer window.

Earlier this month (2 March), Football Insider revealed that the Light Blues have offered the Colombian a new contract and they remain in talks over a potential extension.

Morelos is free to discuss a pre-contract with other clubs and reports from Spanish media surfaced claiming that the striker had done so with Sevilla.

But, according to footballscotland (14 March), Morelos has informed Rangers that he has not signed a pre-contract with Sevilla or any other club and has not even held discussions with anyone else.

Colak has fallen back into favour with Michael Beale and scored twice as they defeated Hibernian 4-1 on Wednesday (8 March).

As quoted by the Daily Record (10 March), the Croatian insisted his side can create a “big dominance” in the future.

But if that future does not include Morelos, Hutton insisted Colak may have a new player to compete with.

I think if Morelos goes he will definitely have to bring somebody in, there is not getting away from that,” he told Football Insider.

I think that is a must. Colak has done ever so well and he has had to bide his time, having a little injury, Morelos coming in and actually doing well for a period of time.

Whenever he comes in he scores goals, makes things happen. If Morelos goes he will have to bring somebody in but Colak is a very good option.
