Rangers tipped to sanction ‘£5m’ Borna Barisic exit after Saturday development – Hutton

Alan Hutton has suggested Borna Barisic could leave Rangers for £5million this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gers defender suggested Giovanni van Bronckhorst has already found his replacement for the 29-year-old in Ridvan Yilmaz.

According to Fotomac (27 July), Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor are pushing to sign Barisic this month.

The Turkish champions are said to be keen on a move for Barisic after showing interest in the defender earlier in the window.

Barisic replaced by summer signing Yilmaz in the starting XI on Saturday (6 August) as the Bears beat Kilmarnock in their first home game on the season.

He was brought on in place of Yilmaz for the final 30 minutes of the match.

Barisic has two years remaining on his contract at Ibrox.

When asked how much the Gers would be willing to let the defender leave for, Hutton told Football Insider: “It’s been spoken about £4-5million possibly.

Look, he is 29 now. Obviously Yilmaz came in for about £6million so you’d like to think he’s in the future plans.

Rangers

Borna Barisic hasn’t had the best of starts to this season so I think it’s probably an option that both parties might look to explore moving forward.

Will Rangers need to bring somebody else in? I’m not so sure? [Ben] Davies can fill in that area but obviously we’ll have to wait and see.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has suggested there is ‘conflict’ in the boardroom at Rangers as George Taylor news is confirmed.
