Rangers tipped to sign Calvin Bassey ally this summer -pundit
Alan Hutton has tipped Rangers to sign a new centre-back in order for Calvin Bassey to feature regularly as a left-back next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit suggested the 22-year-old’s long-term future is as a full-back.
Bassey has featured both at the heart of the defence and out wide under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

He started as a centre-back for Sunday’s 2-1 win over Celtic.
Hutton admitted Bassey has shown his talents all across the defence since arriving at Ibrox.
However, he suggested the former Leicester starlet needs to be playing regularly as a left-back.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Van Bronckhorst certainly trusts him in both positions. In both positions, I think he does really well. I still see him as a full-back.
“In terms of that, it can be a little bit of a hindrance because you’re not developing in the position you want to play in.
“But I understand he’s got the attributes to play centre-back. He’s needed at this moment in time with injuries and so forth, he’s needed there.
“You can see in the build-up to the second goal what he gives you, that powerful running right to the end.
“It can be a little bit of a distraction. You want to play your position, nail that down and get as good as possible.
“I think that will develop and happen as time goes on and the manager gets his own stamp on the team, bringing in his own players.
“Maybe he’ll bring in a centre-back. Then Bassey can concentrate at left-back.”

John Souttar is set to join Rangers after agreeing terms of a pre-contract.
However, Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun are both heading into the final months of their Ibrox deals.
