Campbell tips Rangers to sign ‘top quality’ Goldson replacement amid ‘definite offers’ claim

Rangers will believe that they can secure a “top quality replacement” in the increasingly likely event of Connor Goldson’s departure.

So says ex-Premier League hitman Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 28-year-old centre-back’s future at Ibrox.

This site revealed on 2 December that Goldson, who is out of contract at the end of the campaign, has turned down a new deal.

An Ibrox source told Football Insider that the former Brighton defender is hopeful of a return to the Premier League.

But Campbell insists that the Scottish champions will be optimistic that they can attract an equally capable centre-back.

He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think that Rangers will be confident they can secure a top-quality replacement.

“Rangers are a big club. They will know the market they are looking at when it comes to signing new players.

Goldson has been excellent for them, but I think there comes a time when you hit the ceiling in Scotland.

“There will definitely be offers for his services and they will probably be coming from the Premier League.

“Fair play to him, he has done really well at Rangers. But I am sure they will find a centre-half who can go in there and do just as good a job.

Goldson has featured 28 times for Rangers across all competitions this season, scoring once.

He signed from Brighton, where he made three Premier League appearances, in June 2018.
