Rangers to appoint Derek McInnes amid Philippe Clement sack twist – Fans react

Rangers fans have called for the club to hire Derek McInnes to replace Philippe Clement if the boss loses his job in the coming weeks.

Pressure on Clement’s position has risen since the 3-0 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead, while Rangers have won just three of their seven games so far this season.

Many fans have called for Steven Gerrard to return to Ibrox, with the former boss dropping hints on social media about a possible return.

However, McInnes is the latest to be linked with taking over the managerial position at Ibrox, and many fans are getting behind the idea.

It has been a slow start to the season for his Kilmarnock side who have taken just one point from their opening four games and sit bottom of the league.

Despite this, the boss led his side to an impressive fourth-placed finish last time out and has a strong record against Celtic – which many Rangers fans have highlighted.

Clement, meanwhile, has yet to beat the Hoops in five attempts since taking over at Ibrox.

While McInnes may not be the most glamorous appointment Rangers could make, he understands the SPFL and how the league works.

Many bosses have taken over at Ibrox and been caught out by the additional pressures and expectations that come with the job – McInnes, however, would not.

Fans have taken to social media in recent days to insist he should be the one to take over from Clement, should the Rangers boss lose his job amid mounting pressure.

Others, however, were less keen on the idea.

In other news, fans have torn into one Celtic star after what he did on international duty.
