‘Rangers to become Leeds United feeder club warning amid takeover talks’

Rangers supporters face the worry of their club becoming a “feeder club” as news of the San Fransisco 49ers’ potential takeover emerges, according to Simon Jordan.

The American franchise’s takeover is currently being backed by Paraag Marathe, Leeds’ chairman and leader of the 49ers’ Enterprises, which could see the two British clubs strike up a relationship.

While the Light Blues are often competing in European competition, the Scottish Premiership leaves far less room than the Premier League to increase funds, which will be hugely important to the 49ers.

Therefore, the Gers’ development could come at a cost despite the excitement building around a potential takeover at Ibrox.

Rangers could become a feeder club for Leeds United

Speaking live via talkSPORT [20 February, 11:53am], Jordan said: “What you don’t want is Rangers being utilised as an opportunity to provide feeder club mentality for clubs like Leeds United, because your vested interest with a potential ownership model is primarily with Leeds.”

That could certainly be a worry for those at Ibrox, given that the Whites could win promotion back to the Premier League, and will be looking to reinforce the squad ahead of next season.

Hamza Igamane has been linked with Everton, but if the Leeds hierarchy were to view the Light Blues as a feeder club, a bargain deal could potentially be done, harming the funds heading to Ibrox.

Patrick Stewart must take chance with new Ibrox takeover

Patrick Stewart, Rangers’ chief executive, has no other choice but to welcome the takeover, and more important for the team, potential investment.

Philippe Clement is under tremendous pressure at Rangers, and Nils Koppen can only do so much to bring new and exciting players to Ibrox on a shoestring budget.

The Gers continue to fall further and further behind Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side, on and off the pitch, with their Old Firm rivals showing exactly how it’s done in the Scottish Premiership.

Supporters are only becoming more embarrassed and infuriated as the Gers’ struggles continue, and the San Fransisco 49ers could welcome a new era at Ibrox, but the club need to be careful.
