‘Rangers to follow Leeds blueprint and appoint next Daniel Farke’

Rangers are doing the background work to appoint a new manager following the sacking of Philippe Clement on 23 February.

Clement was sacked by Rangers in the wake of a 2-0 defeat to St Mirren, while they remain 13 points behind Celtic in the SPFL and are out of the Scottish Cup.

Now, attention has been turned towards their next manager, Barry Ferguson has been appointed as the interim boss until the end of the season in the meantime.

Former Sir Alex Ferguson number two Mick Brown told Football Insider that 49ers Enterprises will be key to Rangers’ next manager appointment.

The prospective new owners are believed to be involved in discussions behind the scenes as they continue putting plans in place for their next option.

Now, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that the 49ers are set to take their time over the appointment, as seen at Leeds with Daniel Farke’s appointment.

It took around two months to complete Farke’s arrival, but Leeds are now making clear progress and look likely to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

Rangers line up Philippe Clement replacements at Ibrox

Rangers have already begun working towards their next appointment, as Football Insider revealed in January that Steve Cooper, Derek McInnes, Kevin Muscat and Russell Martin are on their list.

Brown told Football Insider on 24 February that Steven Gerrard would be open to return to Rangers and has retained strong connections at Ibrox.

However, speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson explained that the owners will take their time to ensure they appoint the right man for the job rather than rushing into a decision.

Look at what 49ers Enterprises did at Leeds,” he told Football Insider.

“It took nearly two months to appoint Daniel Farke as manager, but it looks like they’ve got it right.

“It looks like Leeds are going to go up to the Premier League after they took their time to appoint him.

“For me, a club like Rangers should be able to attract a big top-name manager, especially with 49ers Enterprises going in the direction they want.

“They’ll want a manager like Daniel Farke to fit a certain mould and play a certain way.

“For me, there are only good things ahead of Rangers at the moment.”

49ers Enterprises ‘dream’ managerial appointment revealed

49ers Enterprises are expected to play a key role in the appointment of the next manager as they work towards finalising the completion of their takeover bid.

Football Insider revealed that Gerrard would be the “dream” Rangers appointment as they continue to weigh up a long-term decision behind the scenes.

The prospective new owners are keen to have their own man in charge ahead of their potential purchase of the club and are working towards that end.

However, they take their time and the appointment of Ferguson as interim boss has given them until the end of the season to make a decision.
