Rangers to make ‘big moves within weeks’ after takeover latest – Keith Wyness

Rangers are finally the subject of concrete takeover interest after years of stagnation under the current ownership structure.

The Ibrox club could have new ownership by April amid talks with a consortium backed by 49ers Enterprises and Paraag Marathe.

Philippe Clement’s side have lagged behind rivals Celtic in recent years and are currently 13 points behind the Hoops after 26 games.

The takeover news comes as new chief executive Patrick Stewart undertakes an internal review at Rangers led by New York consultants Sportsology Group.

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has lifted the lid on “big moves at the top level” at Ibrox.

Wyness expects changes in the Rangers board imminently

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness has insisted he expects new investment and changes in the Rangers board.

He previously told Football Insider in November that he expects a North American group to make a takeover move for Rangers.

Wyness insisted he expects action in the coming weeks at Ibrox.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Stewart is doing his review right now, that should be finished in time for the summer.

“Hopefully there will be some new investment and some changes in the board.

“Then they can really start to do something big in the summer, and move on.

“We’re going to see a lot of activity from Rangers, providing they’ve got the recruitment side right as well.

“I’m expecting a lot of big moves at the top level in the next four to six weeks.”
