Rangers told to back Giovanni van Bronckhorst with January kitty after source's reveal today - Hutton
Alan Hutton has insisted Giovanni van Bronckhorst should be given the January transfer window to turn things around at Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said that after everything Van Bronckhorst achieved last season he should be given time to turn things around.
On Tuesday (8 November) sources told this site that the Dutchman is set to remain in charge of Rangers this week but is still facing the possibility of the sack during the World Cup break.
Ibrox chiefs held talks on Monday about the 47-year-old’s position but decided to stick with the under-fire manager at least until the mid-season break.
Plans are being put in place for a new boss to be in the dugout for their league return against Hibernian on 15 December.
When asked if Van Bronckhorst should be given the January window before a decision is made, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think so.

“When we look at it there is two games left before the break for the World Cup.
“You can look at it both ways. There is an opportunity there if somebody is to come in and lay down their plan and what they want to do moving forward but I believe Gio deserves that extra bit of time to try and put it right.
“We know it has been a difficult campaign, especially in Europe. Some of the performances have lacked that style that we normally see from Rangers, especially in their forward play.
“I think he deserves that little bit of time especially after what he did last season. Let him have that transfer window to see what he can do and take it from there.“
