Rangers told to sign ‘new Scott Brown’ after confirmed news – expert
Alan Hutton has urged Rangers to sign Ryan Porteous after confirmed news.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said Porteous is a “fighter” and reminds him of Scott Brown.
As reported by the Scotsman (25 December), the 23-year-old has been loosely linked with a move to Ibrox and new boss Michael Beale is believed to be an admirer of the centre-back.
The defender is also linked with a host of English championship clubs.
Porteous has just over five months left on his contract at Easter Road and on 26 November Hibs confirmed he will not be signing a new deal.
When asked if Porteous would be a good addition to the Rangers team, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he would be.
“He reminds me of Scott Brown when I played against him. To play against he was a nightmare but to have in your team was brilliant. Porteous seems the same kind of type.
“I was at Ibrox to watch the game against Hibs and I thought he was outstanding. It is probably an area where Rangers have struggled this season.
“So to bring someone in who knows the league, knows what it is all about. He is obviously a fighter so he would be a good addition to the side.“
Porteous has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

He has scored three goals and provided one assist in those outings.
The defender managed to find the back of the net against the Gers in their 3-2 defeat earlier this month (15 December).
In other news, an expert has claimed Rangers have escaped ‘unscathed’ as John Lundstram details emerge.
